Around 7 p.m.,

the National Weather Service in Chicago received verified reports, providing conclusive evidence of the storm’s presence on the ground

This storm has been gently sweeping over the landscape while it has been getting stronger to the east, it said. The line south of O’Hare rotates an additional amount. If you are in the warned area, find shelter.

The tornado warning for the Chicago metropolitan region “has been canceled with the warning for the east,” the weather service reported around 8 p.m. A tornado warning has been issued for Michigan, where the storm is reportedly moving. Hundreds of people were seen seeking refuge at O’Hare concourses on television station videos. Approximately 169 flights were canceled and about 500 flights had delays, according to the flight tracking service FlightAware.

On Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service issued two tornado warnings for various portions of the city. At least twice, tornado sirens were heard throughout Chicago, advising residents to seek shelter as the storm rolled through the area and rang on the city’s structures.

Lynn Baker, a longtime resident of Chicago, shared a video of the iconic skyline of the city with blasting sirens on Twitter.

I live in a 60-story apartment building, so my options are somewhat constrained, she explained. “I believe we will need to enter the building’s core.”

According to Baker, local media channels ran storm news.

“There is definitely a certain panic when you’re watching the TV screen and everything is in red,” she remarked. But hopefully the harm is not severe. The nearby warehouses were damaged, according to local news sources. According to the weather service, a roof was blown off in Huntley Meadows, according to an unidentified management, and in Cook County, where Chicago is located, according to a qualified weather observer. The Storm Prediction Center of the weather agency earlier on Wednesday warned that northern Illinois, including Chicago, is at a higher chance of experiencing severe weather, including tornadoes.
